TABUK CITY, KALINGA – July 10, 2025 – Saint Tonis College, Inc. (STCI) has achieved a significant milestone, marking its first appearance in the prestigious World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI). The results, announced today during the HANSEATIC LEAGUE OF UNIVERSITIES (HLU) Conference via Zoom, revealed STCI’s strong performance across multiple categories, including a Top 10 ranking in the B2 Category.
STCI’s program, “FROM LUNCHTIME LOITERING TO LITERARY LOVERS”: FEATURING THE IMPACT OF THE STCI BOOK CLUB LUNCHTIME STORYTELLING ACTIVITY, secured an impressive Rank 10 in the B2 Category, which focuses on Empowerment-Based Management. This program, championed by Divine Lovelle Balnao-Liclic (formerly the Chief Librarian and now the Director for Library Services), showcases the institution’s commitment to fostering a love for reading and learning among students. The initiative transforms what was once idle lunchtime into engaging storytelling sessions, nurturing literary appreciation. The entry was packaged by the Director for Internationalization, Hope Lulet A. Lomioan.
The college also demonstrated its dedication to cultural preservation and community development with its other ranked entries. “Project CIRCLE – Cultural Immersion and Reclamation through Community, Learning, and Engagement,” led by former College President Presentacion C. Bartolo, achieved Rank 33 in the B8 Category, which highlights University Brand and Reputation. This program emphasizes the importance of preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Kalinga. The entry was packaged by the then Director for Quality Assurance for Basic Education, and now the Dean of the College of Teacher Education, Mrs. Mayeth T. Valdez.
Furthermore, STCI’s “My Brother’s Keeper: STCI Integrated Community Development Program for Cataw, Lacnog, Tabuk City, Kalinga,” packaged by Dr. Calixto B. Alicay, Director for Planning, Research and Extension, earned Rank 49 in the A6 Category. This initiative, which focuses on practical solutions to community challenges such as water systems and sanitation, underscores STCI’s commitment to social responsibility and community engagement. Dr. Presentacion C. Bartolo, the first President of Saint Tonis College, Inc. championed the initiative.
The inclusion of Saint Tonis College, Inc. in the WURI rankings is a testament to its innovative approaches in education, management, and community service. This remarkable achievement not only elevates the standing of STCI on a global stage but also highlights the impactful works the school has pioneered in Tabuk City, Kalinga. The college’s success reflects its dedication to holistic development, empowering students, preserving culture, and serving its local community.
Notably, positioning STCI towards international visibility is among the top priorities of the current administration led by School President, Dr. Kathleen Rose L. Guimbatan.
