STCI GEARS UP FOR INNOVATION: MICRO-CREDENTIALS AND INTERNATIONAL SCOUTING ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHT KEY ADMINISTRATIVE MEETING
Tabuk City, Kalinga — July 22, 2025 — Saint Tonis College, Incorporated (STCI) is poised to make a bold leap in academic innovation as its administrators convened for a strategic meeting to discuss the development and launch of micro-credentials, marking STCI’s commitment to becoming a Center for Innovation and Learning.
Led by STCI President Dr. Kathleen Rose L. Guimbatan, the meeting gathered college deans to present and finalize their proposed micro-credential programs in preparation for submission to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). This initiative, seen as a significant addition to the college’s growing list of accomplishments, underscores the institution’s vision of fostering flexible, skills-based education aligned with modern learning needs.
Among the notable highlights of the meeting was the announcement of collaborative partnerships with Informatics in Cavite, the School of Deaf in Quezon City, and the Boy Scouts of the Philippines-Cordillera Chapter, strengthening the inclusivity and reach of the micro-credential programs.
In a dynamic turn, the early part of the meeting was graced by Imelda Samson, Regional Director of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP), who proposed a major scouting activity for STCI’s Basic Education students. The administration enthusiastically ensured support through the participation of students in the 33rd Asia-Pacific Jamboree to be held in Botolan, Zambales—an international camping event that promises holistic development and intercultural engagement for young scouts.
The discussion was further enriched by the presence of Ryan de Asis, Deputy Regional Scout Director; Ruben D. Torres, Council Scout Executive; Wilson B. Bulwayan, DepEd Kalinga Division BSP Coordinator; and Wilbur Jose P. Balinsat, STCI Vice President for Operations and Finance.
With micro-credentials on the academic front and global exposure for students on the co-curricular side, STCI continues to live up to its core values of authentic faith, excellent learning, and responsive action, setting new benchmarks for quality education in the region.
