STCI NURSING STUDENTS REAP AWARDS AT REGIONAL HEALTH RESEARCH CONGRESS
 
Baguio City, Philippines — A group of dedicated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Level 3 students from Saint Tonis College, Inc. College of Nursing (STCI-CON) brought home significant accolades from the 13th Regional Health Research Congress, held today, June 19, 2025, at Saint Louis University in Baguio City. Their research, titled “Lived Experiences of Spouses Caring for Adult with Heart Conditions in Tabuk City, Kalinga,” captivated attendees and judges alike, earning them two prestigious awards and a Plaque of Recognition for their institution.
The participating group members, Jovan Vicente, Girlie Valdez, Jemilyn Wayet, Shanelle Yambao, and Dynah Yaun, presented their insightful study which explored the realities and challenges faced by spouses acting as primary caregivers for individuals with heart conditions within Tabuk City. Their work shed light on a crucial, yet often overlooked, aspect of community health.
 
The team’s efforts were recognized with the “Best Infographics” award, highlighting their innovative and clear visual communication of complex research data. Further demonstrating the impact and resonance of their study, they also secured the “People’s Choice Award – Research Poster Student Category,” reflecting widespread appreciation from their peers and other congress participants.
 
In recognition of their outstanding contribution to health research, Saint Tonis College, Inc. was also presented with a Plaque of Recognition.
Other vital members of the research team who contributed to the success of this project include Aj Vinluan, Aira Wacdagan, Xyprince Tiggangay, Melowin Yac-ao, and Rizza Villalada.
 
The 13th Regional Health Research Congress serves as a significant platform for emerging health researchers in the Cordillera Administrative Region. The achievements of the STCI-CON students underscore their commitment to evidence-based practice and their dedication to improving the health and well-being of communities in Kalinga and beyond.
